Database Administration Activities
- Plan, install, configure and upgrade
database systems, utilities, assets and tools to ensure they are continuously
operational.
- Administer the database and ensure
24/7 availability of it in line with the department’s strategy.
- Identify and resolve Oracle database
requirements as well as support all end users as required.
- Implement standard practices and
tools for ERP database management and oracle application ensuring maximum operational effectiveness.
- Provide daily monitoring of the database space, file distribution, response time, utilization, and other parameters to ensure optimal performance of the system.
- Perform database maintenance with
minimal downtime for optimal performance and resolve database issues raised in a timely and efficient manner.
- Conduct troubleshooting for database
and test new releases of database versions and patches.
Database Security & Backup
- Comply with security policies and all upgrade procedures to ensure the upkeep of the database.
- Establish and implement the appropriate database security standards, user roles and access privileges to ensure optimal security levels are maintained.
- Specify user access level for each segment of one or more data items (such as insert, replace, retrieve, or delete data).
- Conduct periodic system testing; implement backups and recovery plans by using alternative media to back up the database in liaison with the ERP Manager.
- Comply with security policies and all patches and upgrade procedures to ensure optimal control of the database.
Database Logs & Migration
- Review all database logs on a daily
basis to provide a daily checklist report to the ERP Manager.
- Create and maintain system documentations pertaining to Oracle database servers with existing applications in order to facilitate future upgrades.
- Plan the database migrations across
database servers along with database and server vendors, if required, to ensure the effective planning and execution of all migration activities.
- Perform ad-hoc and other duties related to the job as assigned by management.
Reports
- Prepare and submit reports that cover database performance details (such as distribution of records and amount of available memory) and other related fields for the manager as required.
