Department: Marine & Aviation
Job Purpose:
- To handle all aspects of marine and aviation insurance claims and recoveries.
- To uphold the company’s ethics, operating policies and conform with the department work instructions.
Primary Duties Performed:
- Checks and verifies the claim intimations received.
- Liaises with the client or other concerned parties to seek additional claim supporting documents / information.
- Analyzes the information gathered along with policy terms and decides on claim estimation.
- Appoints surveyor wherever deemed fit and essential.
- Ensures co-insurers / re-insurers are intimated about the claim and provides them with supporting documents.
- Handles scrutiny of all claim documents including survey reports.
- Evaluates the merits of the claim and passes his recommendations on the admissibility and quantum of claims.
- Prepares claim settlement documents and documents of recovery from co-insurer / reinsurers.
- Directs and administers performance of in-house surveyor and claims inspector.
- Assists in any other capacity as and when required by the line manager.
Work and Business Contacts:
- Internal: Department Heads and other concerned staff.
- External: Insurers, Reinsurers, Brokers, Clients, or any other parties of business interest.
