POSITION SUMMARY:
Under direction of Senior Plumber, installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing systems. Working conditions include inadequate lighting, restricted movement, dirty environment, air contamination, extreme temperatures, intense noise, hazardous materials, or lifting or carrying heavy objects.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
1.Installs, repairs, and maintains chilled water, steam, heat, gas, drainage, sewage, and other plumbing systems.
2. Operates reamers, threading discs, sewer tapes, pipe cutters, snakes, other plumbing equipment/hand tools.
3.Inspects joints, valves, pumps, boilers, heaters, sinks, commodes, tanks, valves, lift stations and other plumbing components to locate malfunctions, and repairs or replaces when necessary.
4. Understand plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements and sequence of repairs and/or installations.
5. Performs preventative maintenance work as required.
6. Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
7. Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
8. Prepare risk assessment and work cost estimates.
9. Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring.
10. Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
11. Repairs and Maintain Mechanical Equipment Servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment that operate primarily on the basis of mechanical (not electronic) principles.
12. Perform other duties as assigned, may be out of the scope of plumbing duties.

Equipment used include: Pumps, Drills, Saws, Torches, Thermal Welding, GMAW Welding, SMAW Welding, TIG Welding, Brazing, Ladders, Winches, Safety Equipment, Hand Tools, Threading Equipment, Gauges, Meters, Lifts, Scaffolding, Shovels, Picks, Sledge Hammer, Jack Hammer, Vacuum and Trenching equipment.
