- Fuel Distribution System Mechanic (FDSM) shall be capable of Installation, maintenance, repairs, and adjustment of pumps, control valves, tanks, meters, strainers, filters, water separators, pipelines, and all other elements of liquid fuel systems.
- The FDSM Makes periodic inspections of fuel facilities, in compliance with applicable regulations, to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings, and malfunction of mechanical units, meters, and gauges, such as fuel hydrants, tank pits, distribution lines, storage tanks, turbines, pumps, and control rooms.
- The FDSM shall be capable of removing, repairing and replacing system components, have a basic knowledge of automated tank gauging systems, high/low level alarms, and cathodic protection systems.
- Disassembles, adjusts, aligns, and calibrates gauges and meters.
- Cleans storage tanks, and removes and installs old/new equipment, such as meter and filter installations, pipe systems, pit covers, and vents, to modify existing installations.
- Engages contractors, as necessary, to perform work on the fuel system, or any portion thereof, or to provide parts for maintenance or repairs.
- Additional Job Functions: Remains on-call at all times for any urgent matter relating to fuel and fuel provision.
