POSITION SUMMARY:
Conducts routine tests for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease and performs related duties following established standards and practices.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1) Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, accreditation requirements, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
2) Diagnose the serum/plasma from anti-coagulated blood by centrifugation. Stores for future reference as per departmental policy.
3) Diagnose the analysis of blood, urine, stool and body fluids for tests indicated and reports results.
4) Gives the necessary medical advise needed – based on the previous step- whether a prescription, medical management in Laboratory admission to the inpatient department, referral or transfer to another consultation facility
5) Diagnose the prepared culture media for use in bacteriology, inoculating specimens on media, identification and sensitivity testing of pathogenic organisms.
6) Diagnose processing specimens and preparing stained slides for cytology and histopathology.
7) Participates in educational programs and in-service training programs.
8) Maintains strictest confidentiality.
