PURPOSE
Specialized in service, maintenance, installation and commissioning diesel powered generators in the field. Ensures the timely completion of work and meets the expectations of customer/client quality standards, and follows the company work processes and procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Receive work instructions/orders – work order Requests from immediate supervisors
- Responsible for performing PM service and overhauling of various type and capacity of Generators
- Understands various types and models of Diesel Engines
- Inspects, maintains and repairs generator sets of various types and size ranging from 60 KVA to 1500 KVA
- Read and interprets mechanical & Electrical drawings and catalogues/manuals
- Overhaul, repair and rebuilds generator assembly
- Understands and troubleshoot various type of fuel injection system in the diesel engines
- Familiar with SOS sampling and interprets the SOS reports and recommended actions
- Able to troubleshoot and rectify/repair the problems
- Familiar with OEM recommended maintenance schedule and repair procedures
- Conversant with metric and imperial measurements and conversions
- Conversant with OEM recommended set values, measurements and tightening Torques for various engine components and assemblies
- Conversant with standards and quality of fasteners and bolt size and recommended tightening torques
- Conversant with various type of hand tools and usage of the same
- Experience in handling various OEM testing and electronic diagnosing tools and equipment for the CAT and Volvo engines, and familiar with the fault/error codes and resetting procedure
- Adhere/follows SOP and company workflow practice and procedures
- Prepare and performs generator load test
- Able to start and connect/synchronize generators for load sharing / parallel running
- Monitor the generator running condition and record the parameters
- Assist the lifting and craneage crew for shifting and transporting the generators in safe manner, and familiar with the safe lifting/rigging procedures
- Clean and water wash the generators and surrounding work areas as required
- Understands the emergency response procedures
- Familiar with all the type fire- fighting equipment (fire extinguishers) and practices.
- Inspects, troubleshoot and prepares Pre-& Post operational(repair) inspection reports as supplied
- Refer parts catalogue and prepares Draft Material Requisition Forms for the materials to be requested to complete the repair work
- Able to perform various level of PM services and Top overhauling of Generator/diesel engines and valve lash adjustments
- Inspect, service and Troubleshoot various type ACB & Motorized circuit breakers
- Understands and troubleshoot various type of fuel injection system in the diesel engines
- Having good experience with operating, Configuring and trouble shoot DSE controller
- Capable of doing PM Service and testing of Lead acid batteries
- Having good knowledge of testing and repairing charging alternators
- Having hand on experience of performing different tests (E.g. Injector solenoid test, Compression test) using electronic tools
- Capable of performing data logging and monitoring using Electronics tool
- Having good knowledge of performing different test of Alternator, E.g. PI test, Field Flashing of Exciter
- Familiar with different type of main alternator and winding diagram and terminal connections
- Capable of checking and testing of sensors, rotating diode assembly
- Familiar with OEM recommended maintenance schedule and repair procedures for electrical components and controls in the generators
- Conversant with OEM recommended set values, measurements and tightening Torques for various engine components and assemblies
- Conversant with standards and quality of fasteners and bolt size and recommended tightening torques
- Conversant with various type of hand tools and usage of the same
- Experience in handling various OEM testing and electronic diagnosing tools and equipment for the CAT and Volvo engines, and familiar with the fault/error codes and resetting procedure
- Ability to configurate Injector Trim code and other electrical components
- Ability to service and overhaul ODB
- Conversant with generator ratings – engine and alternator. Understands various fault conditions associated with Generator operations and able to troubleshoot – reverse power, voltage unbalance, circulating current, low & over voltage and under frequency problems
- Able to inspect the wiring integrity with reference of wiring and connection diagram
- Able to inspect and repair charging alternators
- Conversant with CT and PT ratings and configurations
- Ability to various electrical panels and machineries
- Ability to replace various sensors of engine and alternators
- Ability to connect fuel lines, cables for installations and commissioning of generators for function test and permanent installations
- Adhere/follows SOP and company workflow practice and procedures
- Prepare and performs generator load test
- Prepare JSA and work permit as required to perform job in the field
- Perform housekeeping and cleaning at inside and outside the working area, when required
- Maintains good working relations with fellow workers and superiors
- Values others input and expertise and willing to learn from others
- Prepares daily reports and daily time sheets
- Able to use precision measuring tools and instruments and conversant with units and measurements
- Requisition maintenance tools, materials, spare parts and maintain records of the same
- Capable to operate all equipment and tools in the plant
- Ensure that all the tools and equipment are made available before the work commences
