1. Work with managers to develop program and department budgets.
2. Designing effective budget models for departments and the entire company.
3. Analyzing financial information (e.g. revenues, expenditures and cash management) to ensure all operations are within budget.
4. Review budget proposals for accuracy and compliance with laws and regulations.
5. Prepare regular financial reports and analyze data.
6. Use data to make spending and planning recommendations.
7. Inform department managers of due dates for the submission of budget information.
8. Act as an advisor to department managers in formulating their budget submissions.
9. Examine whether budget submissions can be achieved based on known capacity constraints and inform management of potential problem areas.
10. Examine capital budget requests and issue recommendations for approval.
11. Coordinate capital budgeting approvals.
12. Review the budget model for calculation error.
13. Create a consolidated budget version for management approval.
14. Propagate the approved budget throughout the organization and explain issues as requested.
15. Compare actual to budgeted results at the end of each reporting period, and report on significant variances.
16. Update the budget model as requested to account for significant changes in the business environment.
17. Maintain the budgeting policies and procedure.
