We are in search of a Senior IT professional, having extensive background in managing projects from initiation through to successful completion. This role requires expertise and years of experience in IT project management. We want to meet candidates who are excellent communicators with global experience, capable of managing a large team working on multiple international projects, and conversant in computer related project management tools. The ideal candidate must exhibit independent thinking, and possess the ability to discuss and negotiate with all levels of technical/professional staff and senior IT management, the organizational leadership, and all sectors of the user community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic
- Manage project discovery phase, liaising with clients and users, leading workshops, documenting user requirements, conduct detailed (technical) analysis of all projects.
- Scope, plan and budget projects, incorporating crucial details such as risk management and return on investment.
- Assume P&L responsibility for assigned clients/projects; develops budget and cost estimates and manages project/contract demands consistent with budget projections.
Functional- Ensure that all projects are executed within budget, on time and to a high standard.
- Adhere to IT Governance model and PMO processes, procedures and methodologies.
- Scope, prioritize and allocate project resources, leveraging the use of preferred Corporate resource groups where appropriate ensuring efficient use of resources to meet requirements.
- Track and follow up the progress and performance of project activities and dependencies, monitor milestones and raise notifications as appropriate.
- Develop, implement and update appropriate project control mechanisms (e.g. schedule, risk management, etc.)
- Perform active role in maintaining client relationships.
- Maintain awareness of developments in fields of expertise (project management, IT, logistics, supply chain solutions) to ensure skill set/knowledge base remain current.
People Management- Manage multi-cultural and multi-lingual team which may be virtual in nature.
- Foster a successful team-working environment whilst also helping to motivate individuals.
- Coach and develop the team, both individually and as a group.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. This includes (but is not limited to): interviewing, hiring, developing, transitioning, firing as well as planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
EDUCATION- Bachelor Degree in business, information systems or other related field
- Masters Degree preferred
- PMP certified (or to be completed within 6 months of hiring)
- TQM skills certification preferred i.e. Six Sigma, ITIL
WORK EXPERIENCE- Minimum 8 years relevant IT projects experience
- Minimum 3 years experience managing multi-cultural teams on project-basis
SPECIFIC SKILLS- Project methodologies and practices
- Experience in using project management tools like MS Project (preferred)
