Purpose and Scope of the Job
Performs sterilization of used instruments, disposables and other materials received from wards, theatres and clinics.
Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards
1 Clean the Autoclave with sterile water and check the RO unit before starting the Bowie dick test.
2 Check the Washer disinfector chamber filter and clean.
Check the Detergent, Enzyme & Lubricant and mark with date.
3 Check and receive used items, which are coming from theatres, wards & clinics
4 Make enough disposable items or packs for the day-to-day operations
5 Fold linens and make packs for Operation Theatre, Labor Room, IVF and other department.
6 Lubricate and remove stains from instruments and set the trays.
7 Issue the sterile items on the correct manner from sterile stores.
8 Assist and help wherever the workload comes in the department.
9 CSSD assistants are always under the supervision of the CSSD Manager’s re advice and help.
10 Report on any missing or damaged items in the area assigned.
11 Observe and maintain infection control guidelines.
12 Follow the process of washing & packing, sterilizing instruments & proper storage.
13 Follow the process of instruments counting & countercheck with checklist.
14 Maintain proper documentation of all items sterilized.
15 Check the assigned area and make sure the department is tidy.
