Job purpose:
Program set up and operate machinery for the fabrication of parts within the CNC section of manufacturing overseeing CNC functions.
SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Production Planning & Process: Develop CNC programs; configure tools and ensure efficient production; analyze drawings, and design data to calculate correct part dimensions for machines, tool selection, machine speeds and feed rates; monitor output and use precision instruments to check work and proper operation of mechanical equipment; plan machining based on technical drawings; develop CNC programs based on engineering drawings and models; program by entering instructions including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation and switches; calculating requirements; document actions and jobs by completing production and quality logs.
2. Production Operations: Read instrumentation and gauges to accurately measure dimensions on parts that re being machined within the specified tolerance; carry out other duties reasonable within capability as required by direct supervisor; load feed mechanism; verify setting by measuring positions and sample work pieces; adhering to quality and customer standards/requirements.
3. Production Quality: Use precision instruments including micrometres, callipers, fixtures and gauges to check work; review and confirm accurate measurements on parts are in compliance to customer and quality standards and requirements; maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes; receive drawings, and design data and implement; communicate recommendations to supervisors.
4. Safety & Security Compliance: Carry out scheduled and routine maintenance on CNC machine and equipment; maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes; Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
5. Relationship Administration: Receive drawings, and design data and implement; communicate recommendations to supervisors; communicate recommendations to supervisor to modify processes to improve productivity and quality
