Purpose and Scope of the Job
The Massage Therapist is responsible to assist the applied plan of physical treatment program and follow the precautions prescribed by the physical medicine physician and/or physical therapist for each individual patient according to the principles and rules of practice.
Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards
1 Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, accreditation requirements, safety, environmental and infection control standards
2 Applies the plan of physical treatment program prescribed by physical medicine physician and/or physical therapist for each patient.
3 Follows the precaution mentioned by the Physical Medicine Physician for each patient and for each physical therapeutic modality
4 Applies prognostic function ability tests (muscle, joints, pain scale, etc.)
5 Aids patients in active and passive exercises, muscle re-education and functional training using pulleys, weights, steps and inclined surfaces, whirlpool and contrast bath.
6 Attends team meetings, when appropriate, for the purpose of information exchange, fostering team identity and in-service training.
7 Performs other job related duties as required by the physiotherapy department
