A new facility within a museum setting seeks a Gallery Manager with several years of experience working in the contemporary art world. The Gallery Manager will work directly with the Museum director, other museum managers, interns and volunteers to create and maintain systems and efficiency. Candidate must be an exceedingly organized individual who is capable of accurately communicating in person and in writing. He/she should feel comfortable working in an extremely fast-paced environment while keeping the gallery orderlyand running smoothly.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate gallery’s overall exhibition schedule and complex calendar; organize opening and after parties, and manage budgets
- Planning and holding exhibitions in the galleries.
- Ensuring the smooth running of all exhibitions, overseeing the maintenance of the exhibitions and the galleries, in coordination with the rest of the team.
- Prepare and direct weekly staff meetings to ensure projects stay on schedule and on budget.
- Managing works of gallery assistant, interns, framers and other staff membership.
- Managing the work of the Front of House team, ensuring that the invigilation team provide a high standard of service to all visitors.
- Review and verify invoices for payment.
- Interview, hire and manage Interns and provided initial training.
- Upkeep gallery’s insurance contracts and other policies
- Keeping Inventories of gallery supplies.
- Oversee the maintenance of inventory.
- Create gallery catalog and arranging for sourcing and safe return of the artworks to the contributors.
- Maintaining and updating gallery website.
- Send thank you letters/packages for new and existing clients.
- Dealing with visitor queries as required.
- Manage gallery’s on and off-site storage contracts.
- Main point of contact for security, facility manager, community liaison.
