Scope
Responsible for planning and directing food preparation in a kitchen. Supervising other staff, scheduling and preparation of food as per requirments.
Duties
- Being in charge of the kitchen when the head chef is not around.
- Ensuring high culinary standards are met.
- Keeping the kitchen environment safe and hygienic.
- Assisting the head chef when it comes to writing menus and creating new recipes.
- Being in charge of the purchasing and storage of food.
- Help in preparing of food menus.
- Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets quality standards.
- Fill in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary.
- Resourcefully resolve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation.
- Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assist in staff performance.
- Order supplies to stick inventory in consultation with Executive Chef/Head Chef.
- Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards.
- Maintain a positive and professional approval with coworkers and colleagues.
