The Main Purpose of the Role:
• Ensure customer orders are being attended based on spec’s, timing and quality required
• Ensure the building is maintained to a high standard
• Ensure the smooth running of the Operation area ( Production department, Logistics Department, Fresh warehouse and QA department
The Main Areas of Responsibility:
• Monitor daily reports from each subordinate to ensure smooth running of Plant.
• Co-ordinate with Production Manager and Logistics Manager once Sales Forecast has been received to plan the production
• Receive reports from engineering to ensure machinery is running smoothly and is being maintained. If any defects Operations Manager to provide a solution
• Ensure stock rotation and stock planning
• Monitor the Financial Costs and ensure they are in adherence to the budget
• Maintain good quality of raw products and stock levels to avoid spoilage while in hold through proper supply chain management. (Fresh Produce, Fresh Cut, and Foods - FIFO)
• Closely following up on yield percentages of all items, and assigning targets to production teams for better cost control.
• Following up on dispatch practices and optimize truck utilization.
• Maintain proper quality ripening of Bananas.
• Proper control of Fresh Produce operations from clearance to warehousing and dispatch.
• Proper maintenance of facility with Preventative and corrective maintenance.
• Preventative maintenance to include best practices of all departments under operations to maintain facility.
• Responsible for setting controls on all PRs to create efficiency and cost control.
• Responsible for ongoing facilities audits

• Ensure delivery’s are being made on time
• Monitor forecast against actual to adhere to budget requirements
• Ensure proper maintenance program is carried out and implemented.

Flexibility in having to carry out a range of different tasks:
• Flexibility to carry out different projects on a daily basis such
as looking for new suppliers, testing for new products, planning the
launching of a new product etc as long as project deadline is met
Work allocation, review and approval:
• Allocated through Sales Forecast for the fresh business ie: juice and fresh cut
• Final decision on projects and budgets is made by the General Manager
• Operations Manager approves and reviews reports submitted by subordinates
Decision making authority:
• Makes decisions on everything related to the Operations as
• Decision related to the P&L require GM approval
