Job Purpose
Responsible for visualizing and sketching interior design plans as per BMC’s client goals, additional activities include (but not limited to) sourcing products & materials, determining costs and inspecting work quality to ensure alignment with set design specifications.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Policies and Procedures
₋ Implement the Design Departments’ set policies and procedures and comply with BMC’s other policies.
Interior Designer Activities
₋ Understand the requirements of the clients and confer with them to determine the factors affecting planning interior environments, such as: budget, architectural preferences, purpose and function.
₋ Prepare detailed working drawings, designs, plans, models and schemes often using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
₋ Develop design concepts and prepare documentation for tenders consisting of plans, elevations, details and specifications, in coordination with the Design Team.
₋ Formulate designs that are practical, aesthetic and conducive to client’s intended purposes, such as raising productivity, selling merchandise or improving lifestyle.
₋ Prepare specifications and schedules with accurate product information for all furniture, plumbing, appliances, lighting and finishes, facilitate pricing, procurement and installation in liaise with appropriate vendors.
₋ Ensure all interior design sketches and plans are compliant to client needs, in order to ensure optimum satisfaction.
₋ Keep-up-to date with new developments in the design industry, in order to achieve a competitive edge.
₋ Estimate material requirements and costs and present the design to client after approval of the Direct Manager.
₋ Advise BMC clients on interior design factors such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings or equipment, and color coordination.
₋ Select and design furnishings, art works and accessories according to customer specifications and set budgets.
₋ Inspect design after completion to determine whether BMC client goals have been met.
₋ Assist and support the project team in all activities associated with design development process related to the Interior Design requirements.
₋ Perform other duties related to the job as assigned by the Direct Manager.
Reports
₋ Prepare and submit periodic reports to direct management pertaining to Interior Design activities and any issues that may arise.
