JOB PURPOSE
To provide the required legal support and recommendations to the business units on legal matters affecting their business transactions in order to safeguard and protect the business interests.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Legal Advisory
- Provide legal advice on the key documentation and decisions; and support managers with the resolution of contractual issues/disputes to safeguard the company’s best interests.
- Provide legal advice in relation to the drafting of all fund documents, Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs), and other legal documents in order to create heightened awareness of applicable law or regulation that protects company and allows for greater commercial advantages.
- Provide legal advice, draft and/or review agreements and other legal documents relating to transactions (for asset management, real estate and investment banking).
- Assist in providing advice on complex investigations and interrogations of fraudulent activities within the company in order to establish the merits of the allegation and recommend the appropriate action.
- Assist in providing recommendation and legal opinion on complex legal claims related to different commercial matters (e.g. customers, suppliers, vendors, contractors etc.)
- Provide legal recommendation and advice on the use of proper communication and negotiation techniques to avoid litigation where possible and achieve a settlement favouring company.
- Provide advice on corporate compliance with applicable statutory, regulatory and legal requirements in order to protect the company’s interests.
- Keep abreast of new laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the company’s business activities.
- Understand the Company’s business activities and operations & procedures across the various departments, to ensure giving adequate/appropriate advice.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes, reports and practices taking into account ‘international leading practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
Systems, Policies, Procedures & Reporting
- Comprehend and follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Corporate Social Responsibility
- Ensure continuous efforts are exerted to contribute to the social environment of Kuwait society in all areas through The Company CSR initiatives.
