Responsibilities.
• Review, check and accept a request for Order/related documents from concerned revenue generating or supporting department
• Responsible to solve all issues related to Customs clearance by visiting concerned office if required and handle consignment delivery at ports on land, air, and water.
• Handle import/export activities to ensure smooth Customs clearance thereby achieving a departmental goal and business needs
• Maintain good work relation with Kuwait General Administration of Customs, Kuwait Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Environment Public Authority, Ministry of Communication and Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs
• Prepare valid shipping documents with internal approvals for Customs clearance body or similar government bodies
• Oversee and check valid Declarations are made and necessary payments are done with Kuwait Chamber of Commerce & Industry or related commercial bodies
• Keep records of all demurrages, detentions, etc. and follow up with the concerned for settlements and implements preventive actions to avoid customs penalties.
• Examine invoices and shipping manifests for conformity to tariff and customs regulations
• Ensure all shipments are cleared within the given grace period offered by the sea or airports, in order to avoid penalty payments
• Ensure gate pass are arranged timely for smooth operation inside the port
• Prepare periodic reports with respect to Customs Clearance Section
• Handle petty cash and rotate it whenever necessary and update Accounts department accordingly
• Ensure all expenses and invoices are duly maintained and submitted to the Finance and Accounts department. Perform reconciliation as required.
• Track and follow up shipments and documents with the freight forwarders and shipping lines.
• Follow up with the transporter(s) to ensure on time & complete delivery of cleared shipments
