Job Purpose
- A strategic and hands on role which is instrumental in meeting retail objectives.
- To deliver a comprehensive, profitable and customer focused product range to their business segment through their team of Buyers and Assistant Buyers.
- To lead the buying department to deliver a commercial product range that compliments and enhances the total product offering, influenced by all the relevant external factors including market tastes, trends, fashion influences and innovation that delivers sales and profit to the business objective.
- To continually strive to exceed our customers’ expectations with regards product choice, value for money, quality and innovation, to motivate the team of Buyer & Assistant Buyer to continually strive for excellence.
- To develop a competitive marketing calendar supporting the strategy for the business while delivering the budgeted financial results for their category.
- To identify, select and effectively manage a world class supply base that can contribute to the success and profitability of our business through quality products at the right price, innovation and on time delivery, through team of Buyer & Assistant Buyer.
- To identify and drive sustainable cost saving initiatives in the business through thorough review of vendor base and buying process and assist the team of Buyer & Assistant Buyer to develop these skills.
- To manage these outcomes through a team of Buyers, Assistant Buyers and Buying Associates.
Key Responsibilities
- To deliver these financial targets ensuring the correct assortment. Monitor overall financial performance of department to initiate actions to deliver maximum sales & profit.
- Ensures that there is a robust system for inventory planning and replenishment.
- To develop the framework for negotiating commercial terms with suppliers, responsible for maximizing category profitability
- Identifies trends and coaches Buyers to identify world class suppliers – securing exclusive product ranges. Develop and enhance supplier relationship to deliver strategy objectives.
- Establish a regular, formal communication with key vendors to develop strong relationships with Safat Home & Alghanim industries.
- Responsible for identifying key marketing campaigns/initiatives/promotional sales plans.
- Uphold the Alghanim Industries core values with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and define category strategy within market place and consumer needs to deliver business objectives.
Key Tasks
- Input into annual budgets (sales growth, mix, gross profit, return on space, etc…)
- Managing over all OTB of Category based on sales budget/forecast.
- Manages product/brand performance to maximize category results through sales, stock, price & product.
- Attends international Trade Fairs and Exhibitions to select products, monitor market trends/influences in order to maintain relationships with key suppliers and identify new supplier partnering opportunities.
- Clarifies roles and responsibilities of the team – and deliver what is needed to achieve category objectives.
- Interacts with all cross functional teams of Safat Home and Alghanim Industries.
- Identifies market opportunities for range extensions to grow the category, in line with business strategy
- Ensure effective delivery of all promotional campaigns, discounts and product launches within the agreed promotional calendar.
- Interacts with stores colleagues to show action plans to meet the customer feedback concerns. Show product flow for the coming month, discuss opportunities.
- Regular market visits to keep up to date with trends, competitors’ ranges, pricing strategies, promotions, etc….Uses market information to develop plans to promote new and existing products
- Sets goals and objectives for the team and monitors against actual performance. Develop and coach the buying team members
