Role summary
This position is responsible for the procurement of spare parts, sub-contracted services and supplies. The Buyer negotiates and purchases spare parts for multiple machinery, utilities and different assets. Concurrently this position is responsible for spare parts purchasing, processing sections/departments related parts requests and handles documentation logistics necessary to get the parts/services on time within the requested specifications/part number with the best price.
Specific Job Responsibilities & Duties:
- Responsible to obtain purchased parts, sub-contracted services and contract services handling consistent with the consideration of cost and best delivery requirements timing/cost.
- Contacting suppliers to get offers for the requested parts/services and forwarding the quotes to requesters and technical purchasing manager to get requester technical approval.
- Processes approved quotations and converts them into purchase orders using JDE.
- Responsible to contact approved insurance company to insure imported parts as per company financial rules.
- Prepare shipping documents for all imported orders.
- Responsible to contact/choose imported parts forwarders to import parts with best cost/time.
- Responsible to contact customs clearing agencies to clear parts with best cost/time.
- Responsible to contact Finance for all related process.
- Identifies, isolates, evaluates and eliminates non-value added costs.
- Evaluates supplier quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers. Manages ongoing communications with suppliers.
- Continuous re-evaluation of commonly purchased parts with technical purchasing manager in the spirit of standardization.
- Maintain complete and accurate records/files of all business transactions.
- Responsible to handle local purchasing during absence/vacation of local purchaser.
