Job Purpose:
Responsible for introducing legal policies relating to the bank's activities to all employees across the bank. And also, ensure all legal matters relating to the bank 's activities (lawsuits, contracts, agreement, and forms) are addressed.
Key Accountabilities :
- Ensure compliance with the Bank 's legal policies and procedures and the Kuwaiti laws and regulations .
- Assign tasks and lawsuits to internal and external lawyers.
- Ensure that the bank maintains the highest standards of professional conduct, business ethics, integrity and legal control in execution of its activities
- Ensure proper legal consultations are provided to branches and departments.
- Meet clients and concerned parties regarding lawsuits.
- Review and approve all contracts, agreements and warnings prepared or required by the Bank.
- Lead and advice on all contracts, collateral documents, problem loans and matters that require legal opinion or intervention.
- Ensure the registration of agreements such as sale, parceling before ministries, governmental departments and administrations.
- Assign tasks and lawsuits to internal affairs and lawsuits sections and monitor and guide their course of action.
- Transfer files to external lawyers, in coordination with the management , and monitor their performance
- Keep abreast of any new laws, rules and regulations related to the banking activity and Kuwait Law, and ensure their proper filing and indexing.
- Ensure all legal forms, contract texts, agreements and documents prepared or required by the Bank are properly recorded, filed and indexed.
- Ensure all lawsuits filed by or against the Bank are properly recorded, filed and indexed.
- Communicate with CBK regarding money laundering and the deceased clients.
- Maintain effective relationships with external legal firms I consultants, as required, to secure timely and effective legal assistance.
- Carry out performance, development and competency appraisals of immediate staff in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures and time scales.
