POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the Technical Direction of the HMEM Supervisor, performs the full range of field-level overhaul and end-item repair work on chassis group units of one or more type of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, diesel . Performs MWO''s and Warranty Claim work request.
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
- Performs the full range overhaul and repair work on chassis group units of one or more types of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines. Types include those in commercial, industrial, or tactical use such as passenger cars, trucks, forklift trucks and warehouse tractors, multi-wheel drive vehicles with automatic transmissions and auxiliary equipment.
- Determines exact nature and extent of repairs required and performs major and minor overhaul and repair on engines, power transmissions, suspension, steering and braking operational systems and related electrical, fuel, hydraulic, wheel and engine assemblies.
- Make operational checks and adjustments as required.
- Uses specialized testing equipment such as compression testers, motor analyzers and test benches.
- Directs work of junior and helper mechanics as required.
- Reviews work in progress and upon completion for conformance to standards.
- Maintains EHS and Key Control records.
- Proficient in proper handling and disposal of hazardous materiels and waste.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains tool accountability in accordance with requirements.

MATERIAL & EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Commercial and tactical automotive automated and hand tools, TMDE and materiel handling equipment.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Work is generally conducted in a shop environment; however, duties may involve the conduct of work in the out-of-doors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic conditions. Work will require lifting up to 50 lbs, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical or biological agents. Employee use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas. Such PPE includes but is not limited to head, foot, hand, torso, respiratory, vision and hearing protective devices. Must comply with OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published company work rules.
