Position Title: Commercial Controller / Senior Brand Manager – Wholesale
Division: Head Office - Wholesale
Reports to: CEO / COO (Long Term)
Reportees: Brand Managers & Brand Sales Teams
Liaises with:
- All Head Office Departments
- All Commercial Departments
- Suppliers
- Customers
Role Purpose:
- To maximize business profitability through the optimization of sales, product mix and margins for the brands in the Division.
- To lead and develop a team to deliver business targets in both short and long term.
- To protect shareholder assets through the implementation of effective policies, procedures and operating methodology.
Position Description:
Key Accountabilities
General
- To deliver sales, margin and profit contribution as per agreed budget.
- To lead the Wholesale Division through the development of a clear business strategy with the CEO / Commercial Manager and implement action based on focused business plans.
- To drive and develop the expansion of the Brands in line with agreed strategy.
- To develop and implement management reporting channels to supervise and operate the sales team and business on a day to day basis.
- To provide reliable, accurate information regarding brand performance, delivering actionable plans to mitigate performance below plan.
- To develop a support team capable of delivering 'best in class' sales, efficiency and profitability benchmarks
- To conduct any reviews or tasks requested by the CEO or BOD, provided such reviews and tasks do not compromise the independence or objectivity of the core wholesale function.
Sourcing Specific
- To liaise with Principal Suppliers and agree annual KBTs and develop detailed action plans to ensure delivery with targets.
- To develop and foster strong working relationships with suppliers, targeting the positioning of 'Preferred Distributor in Gulf Region' for all accounts.
- To research, identify and contract new International Brands for distribution in Kuwait and Gulf Region.
- To leverage UTC's diverse brand portfolio to maximize our negotiating strength when developing Trading Term agreements with suppliers.
- To ensure supply chain commitments are aligned with forecast sales potential.
- To modernize operational systems, leveraging IT capability to improve efficiency of sales force.
Selling Specific
- To be the company's ambassador to our customers.
- To be responsible for sales planning.
- To be responsible for 'in-store' space allocation budgets (Fair Share of Shelf) based on Sales / P&L contribution.
- To supervise, motivate & monitor team performance.
- To allocate selling territories to sales teams and review performance on a monthly basis.
- To develop detailed understanding of the products being distributed – to be the company's 'expert'.
- To research, identify and contract new customers for retailing the products in the Division.
- To review the potential of current retail customers' stores, recommend improvements and implement action plans to enhance business sales and profitability.
- To engage with Business Management regarding sales/ performance findings and make recommendations for improvement and monitor their implementation.
- Maintain updated accurate data base of competitors’ performance.
- To ensure supply chain commitments are aligned with forecast sales potential.
