. Prepare and deliver lessons to a range of class of different ages and abilities
2. Mark work, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of student’s progress and development
3. Research new topic areas, maintaining up-to-date subject knowledge, and devising and writing new curriculum materials
4. Select and use a range of different learning resources and equipment, including podcasts and interactive whiteboards
5. Undertake pastoral duties, such as taking on the role of form tutor, and support students on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties
6. Prepare students for qualifications and external examinations
7. Manage student’s behavior in the classroom and on school premises, and applying appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehavior
8. Supervise and support the work of teaching assistants, trainee teachers and newly qualified teachers
9. Participate in and organize extracurricular activities, such as outings, social activities and sporting events
10. Participate in departmental meetings, parents' evenings and whole school training events
11. Liaising with other professionals, such as learning mentors, careers advisers, educational psychologists and education welfare officers
12. Undergoing regular observations and participating in regular in-service training as part of continuing professional development
