- Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in all rigging and lifting activities, to ensure compliance with safety procedures and method statements.
- Signal or verbally direct workers/crane operator in hoisting and moving loads, ensuring safety of workers and materials;
- Select gears such as slings, shackles, beams etc. to facilitate the lifting of cargoes.
- Assist and determines the proper method of lifting equipment for each assigned project;
- Assist with the set-up of crane;
- Conduct basic loading of heavy lift projects by rigging the crane equipment and ensuring the proper use of each equipment method;
- Direct crane operators to move equipment to and from work areas;
- Familiar with safety procedures and regulations to follow during lifting and rigging;
- Optimize resources (manpower, equipment and materials) to ensure efficient and timely completion of the project;
- Familiar with heavy lift plans and procedures, layout plans and method statements;
- Oversee all equipment maintenance and operation to ensure a safe work environment.
