1. Educates the students both as individuals and groups to different acting styles, methods, and techniques of how to communicate, control and project their voices, and present themselves.
2. Teaches enunciation, diction, voice development, and dialects, using voice exercises, speech drills, explanation, lectures, and improvisation.
3. Discusses and demonstrates vocal and body expression to teach acting styles, character development, and personality projection.
4. Produces and directs plays for school and public performances.
5. Auditions students to select cast and assign parts.
6. Rehearses and drills students to ensure they master parts.
7. Assigns nonperforming students to backstage production tasks, such as constructing, painting, moving scenery, operating stage light, and sound equipment.
8. May direct activities of students involved in constructing, painting, and lighting scenery.
9. May teach elements of stagecraft, stage makeup, costume craft, play writing, or play direction.
10. Instruction of drama classes with enthusiasm, creativity, sensitivity to student learning styles and engaging teaching methods, such as games, role-play and storytelling.
11. Utilize technology for instructing students, maintaining records, communicating information to parents, and promoting student and drama program achievements.
12. Classroom management, utilizing a school wide positive behavior support model.
13. Adapts course of study and training methods to meet student's need and ability.
14. Responsible for marking students’ work and providing them with the necessary feedback, criticism, encouragement and support.
15. Attend meetings with other teaching staff, undertake in-service training and meet with pupils’ parents to discuss their progress at parents’ evenings.
