To lead, direct and manage the Business Banking function targeting SME customers through setting and achieving P&L targets and in line with wholesale banking objectives.
Strategy
• Develop and effectively cascade the Wholesale Banking strategy into Business Banking strategy and effectively translate it into business plans to ensure vertical alignment and horizontal integration with other interfacing functional strategies.
• Contribute and provide inputs to the development of the Wholesale strategy in line with the overall business objectives.
People Management
Achieve Business Banking objectives through setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal in order to maximize subordinate and the overall performance.
Organization Structure
Recommend an optimum organization structure for Business Banking in coordination with Group Human Resources so that resources are optimally utilized and communication can take place in an efficient manner.
Targets and Budgets
• Prepare and recommend the Business Banking budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget so that the business is aware of anticipated costs/revenues, and areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon.
• Manage the Business Banking function by effectively setting and achieving P&L targets in line with corporate planning and budgeting guidelines.
Sales and Customer Management (Business Banking)
• Direct the acquisition and management of relationships with Business Banking customers in Kuwait through systematic planning and ensure that the team of Business Banking In-charges, Team Leaders and the Relationship Managers are regularly identifying their needs in order to generate sales across the bank-wide product suite.
• Undertake the necessary actions in order to maximize product penetration and cross selling for small and medium enterprises.
• Ensure that required support and guidance is provided to the subordinates ’, In-charge and Relationship Managers team in all marketing efforts and customer visits and also monitor performance to ensure that the managed team achieves set targets.
• Ensure that appropriate support from product specialists is received for effective cross-selling of cash management (inclusive of trade finance), treasury and consumer finance products.
• Works with the Head of Sales and Distribution to ensure that the Business Banking In-charge and the Relationship team receive all support and guidance from the Branch Manager to capture sales opportunities and deliver on Business Banking customer needs.
Product and Program Development (Program Financing Development)
• Oversee product and program development (design, development and enhancement) to ensure products are in line with Wholesale Banking strategy and guidelines.
• Provide inputs and market demand insights to the team in developing products which are commercially viable and also meet the required market demand.
• Oversee the development and enhancement of credit scoring models and credit programs in order to facilitate informed decision making to meet organizational and customer needs.
Credit Approval
• Review credit approval memoranda and approve them as per authority levels in order to ensure quality and completeness of all CAMs before sending them to Credit for CAM Review.
• Ensure collaboration with Credit and Credit Enhancements functions with regards to credit approval applications and credit enhancement action plans.
• Direct the analysis of corporate customers risk profile in order to appropriately secure the required credit approvals.
Credit Quality
Provide guidance and inputs as necessary to ensure that high credit quality is maintained at all times within the Corporate Banking credit portfolio.
Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
• Oversee the development of service level targets and direct the coordination with other functions to meet customer service expectations.
• Act promptly to either resolve directly or escalate to appropriate levels, any unresolved issues raised by the subordinates in charge for speedy resolution of issues.
Continuous Improvement
Motivate subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes and practices taking into account ‘international leading practice’, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
Provide inputs and recommendations on improvements to Business Banking policy and direct the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment
Ensure compliance to all relevant quality, health, safety and environmental management procedures and controls across, to guarantee employee safety, compliance, delivery of high quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.
