PURPOSE
Ø Ensure the proper, adequate and cost -effective maintenance of the Equipments/ Vehicles through Preventive Maintenance, Break down Maintenance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Review and approval of Job card/Work Request.
Ensure the work procedures are being followed by the section employees.
Develop & Implement safe work procedures.
Planning &control of spare parts and consumables required to accomplish requested service/repair in time.
Plan efficient utilization of available man power & resources at the maintenance section.
Forecasting & preparing yearly budget for maintenance section.
Plans/Schedules available manpower & resource to accomplish the requested task/job in a manner providing maximum availability/timely availability of equipment for the operation.
Provides oversight and responsible for organization of shop floor, maintenance yard facilities.
Plans about the required training program for the section manpower.
Review & approval of accident & damage estimation cost report, if deductions take place.
Preparation and submission of department reports.
Preparation of necessary drawings and sketches for modification jobs (if any)
Outsource suitable service provider/spare parts supplier - if required.
Communicate regularly with the department manager regarding work schedules, job assignments and other shop issues.
Assist in monthly financial projections and annual budget.
Trains and assisting mechanics on methodology for diagnosing and repairing vehicles and equipments.
Tests equipment to trouble shoot problems and/or tests repairs to ensure proper and safe completion - if necessary.
Reads and interprets repair orders, communicate with supervisor and/or driver for clarification of problems discuss preventive maintenance techniques with drivers to minimize future repairs - if necessary.
Ensure completion of paper work associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts utilized for maintenance and accounts for applied times and rates for the maintenance.
Discuss maintenance issues, contracts and warranty work with vendors.
Authorizing material purchase requests & purchase orders and resourcing best price on parts (or) repairs from vendors.
Manages the information system supporting fleet maintenance
