You will be responsible for planning and executing all logistics’ activities and effective in allocating drivers in line with company policies and procedures.
- Nomination of Freight forwarder to pick up shipments based on the most cost effective method and based on the rate contract.
- Circulate SOP to each supplier, clearly stating the process and documents required for shipment for each territory.
- Prepare and update monthly logistics schedule to ensure timely deliveries to designated locations.
- Liaise with providers to assure effective and efficient execution of defined processes and merchandise transportation.
- Organise and maintain hard copy and electronic documentation, supporting order fulfillment, distribution means, pricing, contractual obligations.
- Initiate overcharge/undercharge freight bill claims with carriers and track reconciliation of the same as per contract standards.
- Ensure that all documents are in place by the supplier before the shipment is dispatched from the suppliers warehouse.
- Coordinate with accounts and understand the terms and conditions agreed with the supplier eg FOB , ex works , by sea or air , payment documents LC & TT.
- Track each and every shipment and coordinate with supplier and Finance dept to ensure receipt of original documents and clear the shipment without any penalties.
- Ensure that goods are shipped in the most timely and efficient manner according to documented processes, including planning the transportation route and payload, selecting the mode of transportation, tendering the order for transportation and tracking the shipment from pick up through delivery all the while targeting cost reduction, freight savings, service and contractual requirements. Ensure the above applies to both inbound and outbound shipments.
- Provide support to other logistics teams as needed and interact with other departments to respond to their needs.
- Check the freight bills with the contracts and pass on to accounts for payment.
- Ensure there is no storage or demurrage charges and flag the same to management.
