Duties and Responsibilities (Main Tasks):
Management of the Patient
1. Uses the Nursing Process to provide safe, quality nursing care.
2. Participates in patient and family education by following documented information.
3. Maintains good reliable documentation of nursing observations and actions.
Management
1. Demonstrates a professional interest and responsibility towards the attainment of the goals of the Nursing Department.
2. Participates in the orientation of new staff members by giving clinical help and guidance.
3. Maintains a clean safe environment for patients and staff by following guidelines as set by the Support Services departments
4. Is well informed regarding the major incident and the Fire and Safety policy of the Hospital and attends set demonstrations.
5. Assumes the responsibility of Charge Nurse/Head Nurse in their absence, as assigned.
6. Accepts the decision of the duty Nurse Supervisor to work in other areas as required.
7. Acts in a professional and responsible manner including being punctual, well groomed and respectful at all times.
8. Ensure the implementation of Accreditation Canada Standards related to area practices.
