Observes the maintenance of plant machinery and equipment used in the plant. He organizes plans and ensures that all maintenance activities are established and implemented in order to prevent untimely breakdown of plant machinery and equipment. He ensures that all machines and equipment used in plant are good working order.
Reviews regularly the planed preventive maintenance plan. Assess the effectiveness of the plan and initiate necessary revision to improve equipment availability.
Monitors and reviews regularly downtime incurred during operation. Evaluates and analyzes reports and determines possible causes of troubles and prepares solutions to minimize or prevent occupancy.
Prepare, review and establish economic levels of spares and material stocks based on the information provided by planned maintenance system, equipment maintenance manual, equipment drawings, spare parts catalogs, history records and etc.
Control of maintenance budget and improvements in cost effectiveness of maintenance.
Preparation of estimates for all major overhaul and special maintenance works, including projects involving capital expenditure. To recommend whether or not employ contractors.
To ensure an effective repair and overhauls and to ensure that all works done conforms to acceptable standards.
Supervises major repair and overhaul to ensure that all works done conforms to acceptable standards.
Prepare maintenance reports and check/sign overtime permits, material issue slip, purchase requisition slip and others.
Reviews and evaluates offers of various suppliers and manufactures regarding machinery, equipment, tools, materials and parts.
To enforce staff disciplines and ensure high standard of maintenance housekeeping and plant cleanliness.
Review and evaluates individual performance of subordinates.
Attends and participates in required meetings i.e. purchase committee meeting, Departmental meeting and others.
Formulate training program to improve the ability of personnel.
Promotes safety consciousness among his subordinates and all necessary control measures to ensure the safety of equipment and personnel’s.
