1. Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required and adjusts nursing care procedures as to ensure optimal patient care.
2. Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
3. Writes initial nursing histories, assess patients' conditions and develops individual care for patients assigned to the unit, using the nursing process.
4. Prepares patients for scheduled procedures.
5. Monitors medical condition of patients and reports changes to appropriate personnel.
6. Assists the surgical team during operative procedures.
7. Administers and controls narcotics and medications as directed by the anesthetics/surgeon.
8. Ensures adequate stock of supplies and proper functioning of equipment.
9. Assents responsibilities of a preceptor and orients, instructs and trains personnel as assigned by superiors.
10. Cooperates with other personnel to achieve Department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives and infection control policies.
11. Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording in patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
12. Demonstrates sensitivity to patients' comfort and privacy and expresses interest in their progress.
13. Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families in accordance with clinic standards.
