Job Purpose:
The Plant Manager is responsible for the plant operation and maintenance, and for establishing the plant policies and procedures. The Plant Manager is in charge of meeting production goals and should foster a well-trained and motivated staff.
Roles:
- Directs and coordinates plant operations within the company policies and procedures.
- Establishes with the coordination of the General Manager the production strategies of the company.
- Ensures that the production goals are met, and that production is cost effective.
- Implements the rules of hygiene and safety throughout the production areas.
- Conducts LEAN manufacturing in the plant.
- Sets targets as per the yearly business plan and the directives of the General Manager.
- Develops KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and dashboards to monitor performance.
- Coordinates with the R&D and Quality Assurance to set standards and develop new products.
- Ensures that Quality Control standards are being abided in the plant.
- Implements improvement activities through change management process and best practices.
- Liaises and confers with different department heads (R&D, Engineering, Sales, Franchise, Purchasing, Admin, HR, Finance, and Logistics)
- Optimizes resource utilization by the implementation of an effective production organization.
- Assures that the maintenance of plant machineries and assets is performed as per manufacturer recommendations to maintain their best operating conditions.
- Keeps OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) of machines as per international norms, with an aim to reach 80% for each equipment.
- Assures production volumes as requested by the sales and franchise departments.
- Ensures that health and safety guidelines are followed.
- Coaches and develop resources to meet business’s objectives.
- Motivates team members and periodically evaluate their performance.
- Strives to reduce overhead charges and overtime.
- Develops with subordinates SOP (Standard Operating Procedures) for all production operations.
- Liaises with the engineering department head to keep plant efficient and reduces labor cost by introducing new machines and technologies.
- Manages the adherence to prescribed procedures to ensure the best quality is produced consistently.
- Evaluates competencies of subordinates and provide leadership and development as required to achieve objectives.
- Provides services related to governmental procedures and requirements to employees.
- Builds solid relations with all departments to help optimize the time needed to accomplish tasks.
- Manages, organizes and updates relevant data on the company information system in order to ensure continuous availability of correct data.
- Collects, stores and maintains data related to Personnel issues in order to ensure accurate documentation of information.
- Prepares staff turnover reports (New Comers, Leavers and total headcount).
- Keeps abreast with new governmental policies and procedures in order to provide guidance and support to all departments allowing them to benefit from the latest and most adequate services.
