The Branches Manager’s main role is to run the company’s stores successfully. While supervising the store’s floor, they are in constant contact with their customers and staff. They are responsible for ensuring their staff gives great customer service as well as monitoring the financial performance of each store. The Branches Manager is responsible for every aspect of the day-to-day supervision of retail outlets, including sales staff, stock and resources management. The Branches Manager is in charge of the entire stores and the employees that work within, in charge of the general operations of each store, making sure it runs smoothly, cleanly and meets any budget or sales goals. The Branches Manager is also responsible for all aspects of store operations and planning, including; events, weekly sales flyers, execution and evaluation to ensure maximum sales, effective cost control, and efficient utilization of labor. They are accountable for ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers and a positive working environment for employees.
Responsibilities
Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate the staff within the department
Develop, update and manage the yearly business plan and budget
Develop, update and maintain the job descriptions for all functions within the department
Develop, update and maintain the policies and procedures for the department
Develop statistical and financial reports related to the branches’ performance and present to management on a periodic basis
Deal with customer queries and complaints
Oversee pricing and stock control
Maximize profitability and set/meet sales targets, including motivate staff to do so
Ensure compliance with health and safety policies and procedures
Assist in the preparation of promotional materials and displays in coordination with the Marketing & PR Officer
Implement and maintain an in-store sales-building culture that ensures growth through execution of company merchandising programs and weekly sales plans in each store, planning and executing weekly sales themes, ensuring in-stock conditions throughout the store and conducting weekly sales meetings
Provide for desired levels of guest satisfaction, courtesy and service throughout the stores, with special emphasis on front-end fast service commitment
Accountable for achieving budgeted financial results
Protect company assets: merchandise, cash, facilities and equipment
Conduct weekly audits on each store
Monitor and control store variable expenses, including achieving budgeted wage percent
Constant awareness and reaction to store conditions through frequent and detailed store walks
Create an atmosphere that ensures positive store morale through effective supervisory treatment and recognition. The workforce should be enthusiastic, guest focused and embedded in a selling culture
Maintain stores sanitation and cleanliness in accordance with local laws and best practices
Maintain a safe work environment for employees, vendors and customers
Monitor cash management for the stores including approving all store expenses before they occur
Initiate weekly communications with the support departments to ensure exchange of business information such as vendor and/or product issues
Ensure monthly inventory counts, all deadlines are achieved, and store is “inventory ready”
Monitor and address customer issues, personnel situations, rewards and recognition, and policy violations
Coordinate all store events including executing weekly sales flyers merchandising plans, monthly inventories and all marketing promotions
Oversee the merchandising, loss prevention, and store appearance/conditions
Anticipate highs and lows in the business and reacts accordingly to solve problems and/or adjust allocated labor
Sustain a high level of product knowledge and product preparation
Walk in stores regularly to ensure an organized, sanitary, and overall clean appearance at all times
Work with all departments to ensure and maintain appropriate functioning of entire stores’ operations
Prepare weekly sales/labor projections, execute to plan, and consistently achieve budgeted payroll percentage
Oversee department staff to ensure they are held accountable for the conditions of their store; includes monitoring their hiring practices, scheduling techniques, and their ability to keep labor costs at or below budgeted payroll; ensures staff is trained on all policies and procedures
Manage store financials and demonstrates full comprehension of the profit & loss
Other duties as assigned
