KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To deliver buying group/ department results – sales, intake margin, gross margin, cost of goods sold and stock budgets/OTB resulting in positive Economic Value Added.
- To deliver these financial targets by ensuring the correct assortment of core, fashion and promotional lines with in the good/better/best framework.
- Manages replenishment and repeat orders for all items using tools/templates in business through team of Assistant Buyer / Buying Assistant.
- Range development, sourcing and negotiating product prices, resulting in high profit margins and manage stock inventory.
- To make or develop, select, buy and deliver a product range that represents the values and strategy of the Safat Home brand
- Identifies world class suppliers that can deliver to the business – securing exclusive supply.
- Responsible for negotiating cost prices and establishing terms of trading and payment terms with all suppliers delivering the company objectives/ targets.
- Responsible for maintaining optimal and relevant stock levels through detailed range & promotional planning.
- Responsible for identifying and managing promotions/discounts within gross margin budgets.
- Manages product quality through a QC team and protects the reputation of Safat Home and Alghanim Industries.
- Responsible for managing the workload, priorities, output and results of the buying team within their dept. buying group.
- Uphold the Alghanim core values with all internal and external stakeholders.
KEY TASKS:
- Prepares range/ buying plans based on sales budget/forecast with Category Manager / Buying Director sign off.
- Monitors & Manages product performance, including sell through, to recommend price action, promotional activity and / or reorders.
- Attends international Trade Fairs and Exhibitions to select products, monitor market trends/influences in order to maintain relationships with key suppliers and develop product innovation.
- Ensure that optimal stock levels are being maintained across all continuity lines and that business stock target is achieved.
- Clarifies roles and responsibilities of the team and briefs colleagues working in buying group about what is needed from each person to deliver objectives.
- Interacts with all cross functional teams, including but not limited to Retail Operations, Sales, Marketing, Merchandising,
- Finance, OSO, Warehouse, Group Control and IT
- Identifies market opportunities for range improvement & diversity in order to grow the category, in line with overall strategy of the HF business
- Ensure effective delivery of all promotional campaigns, discounts and product launches within the agreed promotional calendar.
- Interacts with sales colleagues on a regular basis to ensure that customer feedback is captured and action taken in order to maximise opportunities within the range
- Regular visit to Safat Home and competitors’ stores to keep up to date with external market trends, competitors’ ranges, pricing strategies, promotions, etc. Make recommendation to Category Manager accordingly to remain competitive in market place.
- Sets goals and objectives for the team and monitors against actual performance. Mentor / develop team of Assistant Buyer and Buying Assistant coach.
- Uses market information to develop plans to promote new and existing products
- Communicate ideas / suggestions for improvement and efficiencies at every opportunity.
- Deputies for B&M Category manager when required.
