- Provide clinically indicated therapy and use of equipment to the patient and family.
- Perform procedures related to the equipment and maintain ventilator support.
- Perform and/or teach airway clearance and volume expansion modalities for the purpose to assist the patient in the mobilization of bronchial secretions or increasing lung volume.
- Initiate and maintain medical gas therapy including oxygen, heliox and nitric oxide.
- Operate and monitor ventilators and other oxygen machines for cardiopulmonary patients. This includes maintaining and order supplies for these machines as needed.
- Inspects, tests, maintains and operates respiratory therapy equipment
- Explain vital information and educate patients about cardiopulmonary issues and care by using the equipment.
- Teach patients and Nurse how to use inhalers and other devices.
