The HR Payroll coordinator will ensure accurate processing and recording of the company’s payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information, and participate in daily data entry payroll processing while supporting the administrative duties of the Human Resources Department as well.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performs daily payroll department operations, including collecting, calculating, and entering data.
- Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely and develops, initiates and analyzes current payroll procedures, and workflow to maintain and improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Updates payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.
- Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
- Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
- Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance.
- Execute timekeeping and attendance processing and interface with payroll.
- Process manual checks.
- Load import files and troubleshoots various payroll system problems.
- Process new hires, employee changes, terminations, and benefits administration.
- Manage reported time and attendance records with departmental supervisors while maintaining precise payroll records; ensuring compliance to company policies pertaining to wages and time off.
- At times serves as witness and/or assistant in all disciplinary employee/ manager meetings to ensure proper protocol is adhered to.
- Responsible for full cycle onboarding for FT/ PT and adjunct positions; follow-up on employee status for eligibility factors.
- Processes all background and drug screen checks for new applicants.
- Responsible for maintaining and creating employee files
- Main contact to respond to employee, (current and past), verifications of employment in timely manner.
- Creates employee reference letters as requested and needed.
- Keeps current on IRS, and labor laws that pertain to payroll and staff benefits, such as revisions to IRS Publications, etc.
- Serves as back-up to human resources functions as needed.
- Recommends and implements approved changes to improve accuracy, efficiency, and coordination of payroll system and other HR functions.
- Performs other duties as assigned
