deliver sales and margin targets. My Buying plan supports a group of
products to support the delivery of the customer plan.
I Spend:
25% my time trading my buying area
20% my time developing, constructing and managing ranges
15% my time managing and developing my supply base
10% my time sourcing new products
10% my time negotiating to achieve “buy for less” and “sell for less” plans
10% my time visiting stores
10% my time leading, coaching and developing my team
I Know I`’ve Done a Great Job If:
• My buying plan supports delivery of the customer plan
• I hit my sales and margin targets and then beat them
• I have a great range which gives customers a reason to shop with us across all store formats and all trading forms
• I develop my supplier base to achieve competitive advantage
• I negotiate product cost and rebate to continually drive down costs for our customers
• I plan and negotiate market leading promotions
• I use the exit process to optimize sell through and minimize exit costs
• I always try to make things simpler for stores
• I deliver against the critical path
• My price basket index is never <100
• I am never afraid to deliver bad news and always act with integrity
• I live the values and encourage others to do so
