Achieve goals of DSO through maximizing collections and minimizing bad debt provisions; ensure that credit related policies are implemented.
1. Credit assessment and Develop credit policy and procedures
2. In coordination with operating managers and central trade credit, assess the creditworthiness of new and existing customers and make recommendations on credit limits.
3. Develop and then periodically review credit limits for all credit customer
4. Monitoring & reporting
5. Lead the monthly receivables meetings engaging with senior operating managers, directors to identify key issues and agree corrective actions.
6. Issue weekly status report on progress
7. Proactively anticipate developments, and identify accounts that will require special attention e.g. receivables attracting bad debt provisioning
8. Assist in ensuring the integrity of customer data
9. Documentation
10. Arrange for all required Bank Guarantees, Letters of Credit. Monitor and report on utilization, proactively arrange for cancellations as required
11. Work with the Financial Controller to ensure that reconciliation targets on accounts receivable are achieved
12. Ensure timely and effective communication with all customers to ensure timely collection of receivables (dunning of statements of accounts)
13. Collection
14. Coordinate collection efforts within the FMCG group with all operations managers.
15. Develop effective working relationship with senior accounts payable personnel from key customer accounts to facilitate timely payments
16. Work with Client’s legal department to initiate legal proceedings and resolve disputes as required
17. Team development
18. Develop and guide direct reports to improve their skills and impact (e.g. debt collectors training, journey plans, key account management etc.)
